Form guide – why do they go of a cliff top?
How, why and when were the Cart Ruts created? Why do they now go straight off the cliff top? What does that tell us about Malta back in the day? Does it have anything to do with the myth of Atlantis and the sudden disappearance of not just the Maltese “Temple Builders” but lots of civilisations around the Med and the world at the same time. The abandonment. The Squatting Man? The Tree of Life, the Axis Mundi? Does it have anything to do with the Electric Universe?
For ideas, discussion and, maybe you providing the key idea, look at the “form guide” in the forum.
Directions and map of the Fomm Ir-Rih Bay Cart Ruts
These enigmatic Cart Ruts are located at the Fomm Ir-Rih Bay, on the headland known in Maltese and on some maps as Ras-il-Pellegrin. Drive along the Triq Is-Santi road between Mgarr and the Bingemma Gap (Victoria Lines). If you are going in the direction from Mgarr (Golden Bay) towards Bahrija you will see a road on the right with a green arrow on the wall. Follow the green arrows and these will take you to Fomm Ir-Rih Bay.
Go down the road beside the bay until you can not go any further. Find somewhere to park (parking is a bit difficult) and then walk over to the cliff side for a stunning view of Fomm Ir-Rih and Gozo. Walk along the cliff top enjoying the scenery and about half way up Ras-il-Pellegrin you will find the Cart Ruts going off the Cliff.
If you carry on around the headland you will have brilliant views of the northern valleys, headlands and Bays including Gnejna Bay and Golden Bay.
